JOB DESCRIPTION
The Procurement Officer shall be responsible for sourcing the right products and services of best quality and price at the appropriate time. The role reports to the Procurement Manager.
Role Specific Requirements:
- Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability
- Liaison with CEPS and other regulators in the area of shipping
- Assist in buying and storing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies
- Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs
- Search and expand suppliers in order to be able to purchase goods that are of high quality but at a low price
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
- Administer on-line purchasing systems
- Arrange for disposal of surplus materials
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received
- Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
- Find suppliers, enquire for quotation list, compare and select a suitable supplier
- Make payments and prepayments
REQUIRED SKILLS
Minimum Qualification:
- 5 years minimum work experience with at least 3 years experience in purchasing
- Degree in purchasing and supply from a recognized institution
- CIPS
- Good oral and written communication
- Proficient in MS office suite
- Good presentation skills
- Broad knowledge of industry and macroeconomic environment
